There is no demarcation for 10 cups on the machine. I tend to set the timer about 10 minutes early and it resolves the issue. I suggest no more than 9 cups. The first carafe I had fell out of the drainboard 3 days after purchasing this machine and it took me about 6 weeks to find a replacement online (in 2004.I can only imagine finding one online now).So if you have a water filter, live alone, and have lots of time then this coffee maker might be for you.
When I come back 8-10 minutes later it is still brewing. That being said there are a few quirks to this coffee maker that make it not for everyone. But, if people are waiting for coffee they are gonna wait a while for a 9 cup pot.Fourth, the carafe is of an odd shape that does not sit well in drain boards. However, this is a minor gripe because the machine works just as well with filtered water from my faucet filter. Overall I must say I am generally satisfied.after all, it does brew coffee and the timer works. Of course I doubt this coffee maker is still on the market, but I still use mine so what the heck.First, the water filter is totally useless. Second, the coffee maker is small. Don't put 10 cups in this machine.Third, the coffee maker is slow.
Not a huge deal, I'm just saying be careful. I have owned this coffee maker since January 2004. When I purchased the machine I bought a pack of 2 filters and was never able to find replacements. I usually put 6 cups on and go walk the dog.
It makes the coffee very quickly - no waiting around. My mother on the other hand has gone through about 5 in the last five years. Highly recommend it. I've only owned one coffee maker and it's this one. I've had it for over 10 years and it still works GREAT. If this one ever goes ku-put, I'd get the same one again.
A very nice coffeemaker indeed. The clock could have been easier to read. It is not a big square, akward, industrial, bulky looking coffeemaker, which is allot of what is on the market now. The watertube level is easy to read. I wish it was still on the market.
Pouring water into it is not difficult. If you do not like stainless steel today, you are out of luck. It is so ergonomical the way the coffee carafe fits into the coffeemaker surrounding and protecting it. This is a wonderful coffee maker. It is also an attractive, streamlined, tidy package.
It uses the #4 coffee filter papers.
Yup, for 10 years day in and day out it has brewed a solid, tasty cup of coffee and frequently many a day, without fail. I bought mine in 1998 and it finally died a couple of days ago.While I agree with the poster who mentioned the flashing light that doesn't go away for the filter change, and I stopped using the filters a while ago (and actually event the clock and timer) at the end of the day, the machine is reliable. The replacement is already causing problems a couple of days in.RIP old trusty.
NOTE: use the water filters. makes great tasting coffee. Filtered water makes a BIG difference.
